Yoga is a science that dates back to near-forgotten times. It is a well of knowledge from which might be drawn precious treats for the body, mind and soul. But it is important that for this intricate system to work to its fullest, it be practiced like it was at the time of its origin.

Aayana is Sanskrit for ‘the right path’. In our ancient sciences, the right path brings you closer to your natural self. It is said to be attained when one has perfectly aligned one’s body, breath and mind. In its most original form, yoga has the potential to help you achieve this. Each time you practice yoga you are on the path to physical, mental and spiritual health.

At our academy we offer teachers’ training programs for aspiring yoga instructors. Studios are for group classes in Power Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Pranayama, Yin Yoga, Arial Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Relaxation and Meditation.

Yoga Master

I am a life loving yogi who began practicing the art of Yoga from right from my early years of life when I was in sixth standard. I did my 200 Hours Hatha Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training certification from Atmayaan Yoga Academy, Bangalore in 2013. Later in 2014,

I completed my RYT 300  from Aayana Yoga Academy, Bangalore.


I gained experience working for multiple branded yoga studios & holistic fitness centers. I uphold all the elements/mahabhutas, majorly representing element Apas/water. I focus on mindfulness, breath work, alignment and leading students on a path to trust their own internal teacher. I aim to be an incredibly committed yogi and inspire everyone with my enthusiasm towards creativity and spirituality. I like to begin each class with a quote that exemplifies yogic philosophy – suggesting a heart attribute – such as patience, acceptance,

generosity, non-judgment, curiosity, etc. – to accompany the student on her or his path of practice that hour.


I have varied interests and am a trained and certified 2nd Dan Black Belt holder and an authorized instructor under Karate Budokan International. I am also a contemporary dancer, always excited to combine my vast knowledge of the martial arts and dance with my yoga training to invite the student to create an artistic expression of body, mind and heart-spirit joining together. My love for fitness led me to expand my horizons, as a certified Zumba Fitness Instructor and certified Bokwa Fitness Instructor. In conjunction with all, I also hold a B.E. degree and work in an IT company.

I got introduced to Yoga in 2011. Long hours at a desk job made me understand the need for physical fitness. Although I tried other forms of fitness nothing gave me the physical benefits and mental calmness like yoga did. I have always since had a deep faith in Yoga 

as the best tool to bring about wellbeing in ones life.


After working 8 years as an engineer, in 2015 I was looking at courses to train as a Yoga teacher. That’s how I found Aayana :-). I have been with Aayana as a teacher since a year now. It’s been a lovely experience being able to bring about positivity in people’s days. Thanks to Aayana for making Yoga such an integral part of my life.

Yoga Master

Brought up in a middle class Indian family, Yoga was known as a traditional way of exercise to me in childhood. It was during my vacations of 8th standard that I got introduced to a personality development course conducted by Vivekananda Kendra, Solapur.

My health was not that good, due to poor breathing and digestive problems were constant in those years. Talking to new people or even simply introducing myself to them was a daunting task. I used to be depressed, suffered from bouts of anxiety and had an inferiority complex.

Regular practice of asanas, pranayama, and meditation helped me to recover from poor health conditions. After completing my 12th standard, I decided to make yoga an integral part of my life and take it up as my profession. This lead to my my joining SVYASA (Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana) for Diploma in Yoga and Naturopathy DYSc as well as a Bachelors and Masters degree in Yoga. My connection of 6 years in SVYASA gave me an indepth insight into all aspects of Yoga. I could now experience the positive changes of occurring in me. Coupled with an in depth study of various scriptures like Bhagavad Gita, Yogavashishtha, Patanajali Yoga sutras etc I finally started understanding life and witnessing self-transformation.

I started working as a yoga teacher in corporate and health sector post my degree. I started helping my clients by introducing yoga techniques to make their stressful lives disease free and started getting feedback as to how yoga was enriching their quality of life.

I recently completed my 500 hours Vinyasa teachers training programme from Aayana Yoga Academy and it has been the best decision so far. Master Regeesh skillfully took my entire understanding to a different conscious level. It opened up new door of yoga practices. Since then taking Vinyasa classes has become a progressive experience for me and I am glad I can pass on the  benefits to my students too.

Yoga is to bring life to a wonderful balance. My goal as a teacher is to spread this balance and harmony throughout the people I come in contact with.

Yoga Master

During an agitated and confused time in her life, she glimpsed in asana practice the possibility of refuge. As the practice became consistent over the years, that refuge has gone to open something deeper inside her. Yoga became the therapy session she spent with herself,

the mat became her world creating a space to reclaim the mind-body connection that the difficult phase of her life had severed.

With qualifications having nothing to do with yoga, Shilpi, who holds a BE (Computer Engineering) and an MBA, found the next natural transition to train to teach yoga. She completed her 200 Hr Teacher Training under the guidance of Regeesh and Mrinali at Aayana Yoga. The seeds of this desire to share this practice have sprouted, taken root, and now gradually developing baby shoots in her teaching journey.

The first time she walked through Aayana’s door was at a time of deep transition in her life. She was struck with a sense of warmth and belonging, like she was “home”. She came back for class the following week and has been hooked ever since. She continued to practice because of her friendly and caring teachers Regeesh, Vinay and Mrinali. From being a practitioner, to offering to pitch-in with back-office support, labeling herself the “woman-friday” at Aayana, to a yoga teacher now – from a computer engineer to a yoga warrior – the journey has been life changing.  It’s her pleasure to offer support in any form needed for the day-to-day running of the studio. Aayana has become her second home, her sanctuary. As a support staff and teacher, it is her pleasure to offer this experience to others and support Regeesh’s vision to make Aayana as a community bonding over yoga. She is grateful for all that is offered, enjoyed and shared within these walls and looks forward to welcoming all into this home we call Aayana.

She believes creativity is not about compartmentalising or remaining in a neatly labelled box. With interests in all things to do with art, craft, handmade, homemade, go-green, recycle-reuse-refuse, veganism, healthy eating, baking, minimalism, zero waste, animal compassion – the list goes on – she is one busy yogi, welcome to her chaos! Yoga remains her anchor to this essence, her steady ship amidst seas of change.

Even though the category reads ‘teacher’, she believes she will always be a student attending classes to fine tune her practice and find her teaching style true to the the saying ‘you can’t pour from an empty cup’. She loves the experience that comes with seeing people experience the goodness that yoga brings on the mat. Who needs yoga?  Honestly, we all do. If you can breathe, you can do yoga! Every last one of us can benefit from building strength, gaining flexibility, and finding a bit of calm in the day. So let’s make that happen…hop on to your mat!

Yoga Master

Sumeet is a RYT500 and E-RYT200 Yoga Alliance certified Yoga Teacher and Consultant. His journey in yoga began as most of everyone’s would – to lose weight! Losing weight was the catalyst for a dramatic change in his life, a change which helped him find his alternate passion.

The starting point for this change was when he signed up for a yoga class, overweight and struggling with 90kgs. With practice, yoga took hold of him in ways he didn’t fully understand then – other than the good physical changes happening to him, there was this shift and transformation which he couldn’t exactly put his finger on, but something felt different.

Yoga had him hooked! He liked teaching and wanted to share the benefits of this practice with others. It made sense for him to take his love of yoga to the next level and he hasn’t looked back since. 16 kgs lighter and armed with a yoga teacher training courses, he was ready to gift this unique package of physical and mental transformation to others!

He has been teaching Vinyasa, Hatha and Gentle Yoga since the last four years. He conducts various corporate workshops and retreats. He helps people to overcome from lifestyle disorders like Thyroid, Backache, Migraine, Bone Density, High Blood Pressure, Stress, Epilepsy, and Depression.

He is an avid traveller and loves being outdoors. He believes it’s a wonderful way to learn about ourselves, just what a yoga practice also strives to teach.

He always believes in learning more, teaching more and putting a positive impact on people’s life with various yogic tools and techniques. He feels satisfied when he helps people to come out from their health issues and start living a healthy and peaceful life.

Apart from teaching yoga, he is a B.Tech IT and working as a Principal member in software development firm. His love for this practice keeps him going, juggling a 9-to-5 corporate job along with his classes and practice. He is the perfect example of having overcome the conflict of having a successful stable career and a purposeful vocation. He nurtures relationship with his students — connects, listens and cares genuinely — keeping in mind that the practice he teaches is for them, not him.

He owes it to his yoga practice – transitioning from a crazy busy full time corporate job to a slower mentally relaxing part time job of a yoga teacher with finesse – and this is the balance between effort and ease, in yoga and life that we aim to achieve as we practice with him.

Yoga Master

Sumasree’s journey as a professional yoga teacher began in 2007 when she completed her Yoga Instructor’s Course (YIC) from SVYASA, Bangalore. She has a degree in psychology and management. After a few years in the corporate world, 

she decided to take up Yoga on a full time basis and completed her 200 hr Teacher Training Course from Aayana Yoga Academy Bangalore.

She has a passion for teaching Yoga to Individuals with special needs. She also trains other Yoga teachers for the same.

Another area of interest for her, is teaching yoga and mindfulness at organisations. She has taught at several corporate offices like JDA Software ltd, BIWorld PVt Ltd and iGate.

She is always keen to learn about yoga philosophy and hopes to understand the science of yoga, especially the mind – body connection, at a much deeper level.

Sumasree loves to travel, explore different cultures and foods. She digs everything eco-

friendly and has co-founded Project Shunya, an initiative to promote simple living through

minimalism and zero waste living.
